NORTHERN ATHLETICS U13/U15 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - 2 FEBRUARY 2025 - EIS, SHEFFIELD

Even by her own high standards, Sienna Lavine went up several notches at these championships. She won the gold medal in the Under 13 Girls 800 metres by a considerable margin, setting a new Pontefract AC club record, a Northern Athletics championships best performance and, most importantly, a UK Under 13 Girls national record with a time of 2 minutes 12.17 seconds. This was a huge 1.70 seconds quicker than the previous UK record. This was Sienna's 2nd UK record in the space of just over 2 months, having set a national record in the 600 metres in November 2024.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOORS SERIES - FIXTURE 2 - 8 DECEMBER 2024

Immediately after finishing first in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League race at Oulton, Sienna Lavine dashed down to the EIS at Sheffield to compete in this fixture. Incredibly, she ran the quickest time in the U13 Girls 200 Metres, setting a club record of 27.01 seconds.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS INDOOR OPEN MEETING - 23 NOVEMBER 2024 - EIS, SHEFFIELD

This was another landmark occasion for Sienna Lavine and also for Pontefract Athletics Club. Sienna clocked 1 minute 35.98 seconds for the 600 metres event. This is a UK All Time best performance in the Under 13 Girls age group. It is the first time that any athlete from this club has been at the top of the UK All Time Rankings in any age group. Her time was a massive 1.32 seconds quicker than the previous All Time best performance. Julian Rutkowski also ran extremely well in the 600 metres, setting a club record for Under 15 Boys with 1 minute 38.48 seconds.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOORS SERIES - FIXTURE 1 - 10 NOVEMBER 2024

Sienna Lavine dashed down to Sheffield immediately after winning Race 3 in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League in Leeds in order to take part in this fixture. After a slow start, she finished 2nd in the 60 metres sprint, setting a new club record for U13 Girls with 8.47 seconds. She also won the Shot Put with 6.04 metres.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 8 SEPTEMBER 2024 - CLECKHEATON

We came away from these championships with a good haul of 9 medals - 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. Sienna Lavine won gold in the U13 Girls 800 metres in 2 minutes 23.37 seconds. She crossed the finish line before any of the other athletes had entered the finishing straight. She then won the 200 metres in a quick 27.39 seconds to collect her 2nd gold medal and she finished with a bronze in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.24 metres. Harrison Carter also won 2 gold medals. He was first in the U20 Men's Discus with 26.69 metres. He also won the Hammer with a throw of 20.31 metres. Julian Rutkowski won gold in the U13 Boys 800 metres. He was comfortably ahead of the field when he crossed the line in 2 minutes 32.91 seconds. Abigail Teece won the silver medal in the U17 Ladies High Jump with a clearance of 1.30 metres. She also won the bronze medal in the 80 metres hurdles in 15.36 seconds. Emily Kelly won the silver medal in the U17 Ladies 300 metres in 49.26 seconds.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 10 AUGUST 2024 - DERBY

These championships highlighted another milestone in the career of Sienna Lavine. Sienna won the gold medal in the Under 13 Girls 800 metres event. She improved her personal best and club record by nearly 3 seconds with a time of 2 minutes 15.44 seconds. Her performance takes her to the top of the UK rankings for the U13 Girls 800 metres and 8th on the UK All Time list. She is still in her first year in this age group, so there could still be some more to come!

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 6 - 7 AUGUST 2024

Sienna Lavine won the Under 13 Girls 200 metres, setting a West Yorkshire League record as well as a Pontefract club record with 27.09 seconds. She also won the Long Jump with 4.31 metres. Sienna finished the season in 2nd place in the U13 Girls individual table just one point behind the overall winner. Harrison Carter finished the season in 3rd place overall in the Under 20 men's individual table.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MEETING 4 - 21 JULY 2024

Sienna Lavine recorded 3 more impressive victories in the Under 13 Girls age group at this meeting. She has not been beaten in this league this year, having won all 12 of her races. At this meeting, she won the 150 metres in 20.5 seconds, the 800 metres in 2 minutes 21.9 seconds and the 75 metres in 10.3 seconds. Isabelle Gittins won the U13 Girls B races in the 150 metres (21.9 secs) and the 75 metres (11.2 secs). She also came 2nd in the Long Jump with 3.74 metres. Ryan Gamit won the U13 Boys High Jump with 1.20 metres and he was 2nd in the Long Jump with 3.96 metres. Yannick Stevenson won the U15 Boys High Jump with 1.45 metres and he was 2nd in the 100 metres in 13.9 seconds. Toby Johnson won the U13 Boys 80 metres in 12.3 seconds. Matilda Ebroma came 2nd in the U13 Girls Shot Put with 5.34 metres and 3rd in the 70 metres hurdles in 15.7 seconds.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 5 - 7 JULY 2024

Sienna Lavine won the Under 13 Girls 800 metres in 2 minutes 22.31 seconds and she also won the 100 metres in 13.48 seconds. Harrison Carter won the Under 20 Men's Javelin with 20.85 metres.

METHLEY CANAL 5K RACE - 2 JULY 2024

Johanna Sutcliffe was again in excellent form, finishing 2nd in the women's race and setting a club record for women over 45 with 18 minutes 56 seconds.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MEETING 3 - 23 JUNE 2024

There has rarely been a meeting this year, in which Sienna Lavine has not set either a league record or a club record or both. This meeting was no exception. Sienna again won all 3 of her races in the U13 Girls age group. She started by winning the 150 metres in 20.1 seconds, which set a Yorkshire and District Athletics League record as well as a club record. She then won the 1200 metres in 3 minutes 47.6 seconds. She finished off with a tremendous time of 10.1 seconds for the 75 metres, which improved the club record by 0.3 seconds. Julian Rutkowski had another outstanding run in the U13 Boys 1500 metres, improving the club record by 6 seconds to 5 minutes 09.6 seconds. Imogen Fear was only 0.2 seconds outside the club record when winning the U17 Ladies 300 metres hurdles in 53.3 seconds. Imogen also won the Long Jump with 4.18 metres. Abi Teece won the U17 Ladies High Jump with 1.25 metres and finished a close 2nd to Imogen in the Long Jump with 4.11 metres. Emily Kelly found a good turn of speed to win the U17 Ladies 100 metres in 14.0 seconds. Madison Toddington enjoyed 2 victories in the U17 Ladies age group. These came in the Discus with 20.03 metres and the Shot Put with 8.25 metres. Ryan Byrne won the U17 Men's Long Jump with 5.43 metres and Isabella Tordoff was first in the U15 Girls High Jump with 1.25 metres. In the U13 Boys age group, Toby Johnson was 1st over the line in the 800 metres in 2 minutes 41.0 seconds and Ryan Gamit, making his debut for the club, was first in the Long Jump with 3.90 metres. Our U17 mixed 4 x 300 metres relay team of Emily Kelly, Abi Teece, Imogen Fear and Ryan Byrne provided another victory in 3 minutes 06.9 seconds.

DARRINGTON 5 MILES RACE - 22 JUNE 2024

Johanna Sutcliffe was in excellent form in this local race, winning the Ladies race in a very quick 32 minutes 11 seconds, which set club records for women over 45 and women over 40. Chris Quirke also ran well to finish in 32-29.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 4 - 19 JUNE 2024

Sienna Lavine was in great form again, winning the U13 Girls 800 metres and setting a new West Yorkshire League record with a time of 2 minutes 19.75 seconds. Sienna also won the 100 metres in 13.50 seconds.

NORTHERN TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 2 - 15 JUNE 2024

Abigail Teece set a club record for the Under 17 Ladies 100 metres hurdles with 20.5 seconds.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 3 - 29 MAY 2024

Sienna Lavine won the U13 Girls 200 metres in 27.70 seconds. Madison Toddington won the U17 Ladies Discus with 20.69 metres. Harrison Carter won the U20 Mens Shot Put with 10.43 metres and Julian Rutkowski came 3rd in the U13 Boys 800 metres in 2 minutes 27.38 seconds.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MEETING 2 - 26 MAY 2024

Sienna Lavine had another fantastic day, winning all 3 of her races again. In the 1200 metres race she set a Yorkshire and District League record for U13 Girls with a time of 3 minutes 46.1 seconds. This was also a Pontefract club record. She also won the 75 metres in 10.8 seconds and the 150 metres in 20.7 seconds. Niamh Fraser won the U17 Ladies Javelin with a very good throw of 20.75 metres.

YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - CUDWORTH - 11 AND 12 MAY 2024

This was another landmark occasion for Sienna Lavine when she won the gold medal in the 800 metres , setting a championship best performance in her first year in the age group with an incredible time of 2 minutes 18.37 seconds. Her time was also a club record. Sienna also won the silver medal in the 100 metres, setting a club record in that event with 13.45 seconds in the final. Elizabeth Teece won the gold medal in the U20 Ladies Javelin with 19.90 metres. Elizabeth also won the bronze medal in the Hammer with 17.42 metres. Harrison Carter came away from the championships with 3 silver medals in the U20 Mens age group. These came in the Javelin (18.35 metres), Hammer (21.00 metres) and Shot Put (9.86 metres). Harrison also finished 4th in the Discus with 25.79 metres. Julian Rutkowski ran extremely well to finish 5th in the final of the U13 Boys 800 metres, improving the Pontefract club record by more than 6 seconds with a time of 2 minutes 24.42 seconds. Niamh Fraser came 4th in the U17 Ladies Javelin with 18.60 metres.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 2 - 8 MAY 2024

Sienna Lavine set a club record here when she won the Under 13 Girls 100 metres in 13.61 seconds.She also won the 800 metres in 2 minutes 27.00 seconds.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MEETING 1 - 28 APRIL 2024

Sienna Lavine opened her account in the Yorkshire and District Athletics League with a victory in all 3 of her events in the Under 13 Girls age group. In the 75 metres she clocked 10.4 seconds to set a Pontefract club record. In the 150 metres she recorded 20.6 seconds and in the 1200 metres she clocked 3 minutes 56.8 seconds. Isabelle Gittins ran well to win the B race in the 150 metres in 22.5 seconds. Madison Toddington won the U17 Ladies Discus with 18.85 metres and she recorded another victory in the Shot Put with 9.14 metres.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MEETING 1 - 21 APRIL 2024

Sienna Lavine started her campaign in this year's West Yorkshire Track and Field League with a victory in the Under 13 Girls 200 metres in 27.91 seconds. Harrison Carter also notched up a victory in the Under 20 Mens Hammer with 16.62 metres. Abi Teece came 3rd in the U17 Ladies 80m Hurdles in 15.54 seconds and Abi was also 3rd in the High Jump with 1.35 metres. Julian Rutkowski was 4th in the U13 Boys 800 metres in 2:35.79

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOOR ATHLETICS SERIES - MEETING 4 - 17 MARCH 2024

Sienna Lavine was in tremendous form again at this meeting, winning all 3 of her events and setting 2 more club records. She started with an outstanding run in the Under 13 Girls 150 Metres, which she won in a new club record time of 20.15 seconds. She then won the 800 metres by a considerable margin in 2 minutes 21.21 seconds. 45 minutes later, she was on the track again, winning the 200 metres in a new club record of 27.55 seconds, which knocked more than a second off the previous record.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS U13/U15 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - 4 FEBRUARY 2024

These championships marked an important milestone in the athletics career of Sienna Lavine. Despite only being in her first year in the Under 13 Girls age group, Sienna produced a fantastic performance to win her first gold medal in a Northern Athletics championship. She won the U13 Girls 800 metres, setting a new club record of 2 minutes 19.24 seconds. She is the first athlete from Pontefract AC to win a gold medal on the track in a Northern Athletics championship, the 2 previous gold medal winners having achieved that accolade in the High Jump. Sienna also won the bronze medal in the U13 Girls 60 metres with a time of 8.61 seconds in the final after equalling her club record of 8.57 seconds in the semi final.

DEWSBURY 10K - 4 FEBRUARY 2024

Scott Daly had an excellent run here, setting a club record for men over 50 with a time of 37 minutes 25 seconds. Chris Quirke also ran well to dip under 40 minutes with 39-48.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOOR ATHLETICS SERIES - MEETING 3 - 21 JANUARY 2024

Sienna Lavine was a very clear winner of the U13 Girls 1200 Metres. In her first race at this distance, she improved the club record by more than 17 seconds with a time of 3 minutes 52.38 seconds. She also won the 60 metres sprint, setting another club record with 8.57 seconds. A personal best of 3.94 metres in the Long Jump enabled her to clinch the overall winners award in the South Yorkshire Athletics Series.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS INDOOR OPEN MEETING 2 - 9 DECEMBER 2023

Madison Toddington produced a huge personal best to win the Under 17 Ladies Shot Putt with 9.56 metres. Isabelle Gittins won her heat in the Under 13 Girls 60 metres with 9.24 seconds.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOOR ATHLETICS SERIES - MEETING 2 - 3 DECEMBER 2023

Sienna Lavine was again in tremendous form, winning all 3 of her track races at this meeting. She won the 150 Metres in 20.77 seconds to set a new club record for Under 13 Girls. This is also a club record for Under 15 Girls. In the 600 Metres, she was well clear of the opposition with 1 minute 42.17 seconds. She then won the 200 Metres with another quick time of 28.95 seconds.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS INDOOR OPEN MEETING 1 - 25 NOVEMBER 2023

Toby Johnson set a club record for Under 13 Boys in the 1000 Metres with 3 minutes 33.01 seconds. This was also a club record for U15s and U17s. Kevin Waite set a club record for Men Over 60 in the 1000 Metres with 3 minutes 20.41 seconds. This was also a club record in the M55, M50, M45 and M40 age groups. Kevin also set club records in all these age groups in the 150 Metres with 24.83 seconds. Sienna Lavine did the quickest time in the U13 Girls 600 Metres with 1 minute 42.87 seconds.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE INDOOR ATHLETICS SERIES - MEETING 1 - 22 OCTOBER 2023

Sienna Lavine was in fantastic form in this meeting. In her first competition since moving up to the Under 13 Girls age group, she was the fastest finisher overall in the 800 metres, knocking more than 7 seconds off the club's U13 Girls record with a tremendous time of 2 minutes 22.91 seconds. She was also the fastest finisher overall in the Under 13 Girls 200 metres, setting another club record with 28.62 seconds.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 10 SEPTEMBER 2023

We won 7 medals at this year's championships (4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze). Our total of medals was 2 less than last year, but our 4 gold medals was 1 more than last year and the most since 2018.

Despite struggling with a leg injury, Sienna Lavine won the gold medal in the U11 Girls 75 Metres in 11.80 seconds and she also won the gold medal in the 600 Metres in 1 minute 54.87 seconds. Sienna was also presented with an award for being the overall winner in the U11 Girls age group in the West Yorkshire League and a further award for being the most outstanding track athlete in the West Yorkshire League. Harrison Carter won the gold medal in the U17 Mens Hammer with 23.48 metres and he also won the gold medal in the Discus with 25.13 metres. Emily Kelly won the silver medal in the U15 Girls 800 metres in 2 minutes 50.55 seconds, Katie Kelly won the bronze medal in the U17 Ladies 300 metres in 45.75 seconds and Archie Fraser won the bronze medal in the U17 Mens High Jump with 1.50 metres.

NORTHERN TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MATCH 4 - 19 AUGUST 2023

In a very close, hard fought battle, we just failed to avoid relegation from Division 1 when we finished 4th out of the 6 clubs in this match, only 2 points behind Holmfirth Harriers. The match result was:- 1st Leeds City - 392 points, 2nd Spenborough - 355, 3rd Holmfirth - 347, 4th Pontefract - 345, 5th Harrogate - 277, 5th Skyrack - 215. This resulted in the final league points being:- 1st Leeds City - 23, 2nd Spenborough - 21, 3rd Holmfirth - 11, 4th Harrogate -10, 5th Skyrac - 10, 6th Pontefract - 9. If we had managed to get another 3 points in this last match, we would have beaten Holmfirth and the bottom 4 clubs would all have finished with 10 points and we would have finished 3rd overall instead of 6th due to us having more match points than Holmfirth, Harrogate and Skyrac.

Leading performances in this match came from Luke Murphy, who won the Triple Jump, setting a club record for senior men with 12.46 metres. Luke also won the Long Jump with 6.21 metres and he was 3rd in the 400 metres, setting another senior men's club record with 54.3 seconds. Will Carter won the Shot Putt with 10.42 metres and he also won the Discus with 31.56 metres. Richard Howes set a club record for men over 60 in the Triple Jump with 9.45 metres and Scott Daly set a club record for men over 50 and men over 45 in the 5000 metres with 19 minutes 00.6 seconds.

In the women's events, Faye Rhodes won the Discus with 30.54 metres. She also came 2nd in the Hammer with 32.63 metres and 2nd in the Shot Putt with 8.73 metres. Johanna Sutcliffe set a club record for women over 45, over 40 and over 35 in the 400 metres with 72.0 seconds. Jane Williams made it 5 club records on the day when she threw 5.89 metres in the Shot Putt to improve the women's over 50 record.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - 6 AUGUST 2023

Sienna Lavine moved up several more notches in this meeting, winning the U11 Girls 600 Metres in a new West Yorkshire League record of 1 minute 41.34 seconds. This added another 3.59 seconds to the record, which she set on the 31st May 2023. She is now more than 6 seconds quicker than the previous league record and she is currently more than 8 seconds quicker than anyone else at the top of the UK Rankings for U11 Girls in 2023. Her time is a club record for all age groups from Under 11 to Senior Ladies. She also won the U11 Girls 75 Metres event at this meeting in 10.63 seconds, just 3/100ths of a second outside her league record. Will Carter was also in good form at this meeting. He set a Senior Men's club record in the Hammer with 23.03 metres. Harrison Carter won the U17 Men's Discus with 26.70 metres and he also won the Hammer with 19.86 metres. Archie Fraser won the U17 Men's High Jump with 1.50 metres and Madison Toddington won the U17 Ladies Discus with 19.57 metres.

TRAFFORD OPEN MEETING - 23 JULY 2023

Sienna Lavine won all 3 of her races in the Trafford Open Meeting. She won the U11 Girls 600 Metres in 1 minute 46.41 seconds, the 75 Metres in 10.73 seconds and then, in atrocious conditions, she won the 150 metres, setting a club record of 21.31 seconds.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - 12 JULY 2023

Sienna Lavine was just 1/100th of a second outside her West Yorkshire League record when winning the U11 Girls 600 Metres in 1:44.94.

NORTHERN TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MATCH 3 - 9 JULY 2023

Despite a very big effort by all of our athletes, in a very close match we were a few points short and we finished last out of the 6 clubs in our Division 1 match. After 3 matches, we are now bottom of the league, just one point behind Holmfirth. We need to beat them in Match 4 to retain our place in Division 1. In Match 3, Luke Murphy was in very good form. He won the Long Jump with an excellent leap of 6.38 metres. He was also 3rd in the 100 mtrs in 12.0 and 3rd in the 400 mtrs in 54.7. Will Carter won the Discus with a very good throw of 31.99 mtrs. He also placed 3rd in the Javelin with another very good throw of 38.39 mtrs. Richard Howes was the winner of the B competition in the Javelin with 31.67 mtrs. Chris Pratchett set a club record for Men Over 45 in the 400 metres with 64.0 seconds. In the womens events, Johanna Sutcliffe strung together 3 good performances. She was 2nd in the 800 Metres in 2:33.1, 3rd in the 3000 Metres in 11:20.1 and 4th in the 1500 Metres in 5:20.7. Beatrice Cunningham came 2nd equal in the High Jump with 1.45 mtrs, 3rd in the Long Jump with 4.65 mtrs and 3rd in the Triple Jump with 9.38 mtrs. Elizabeth Teece came 2nd in the Discus with 17.57 mtrs, 3rd in the Javelin with 21.65 mtrs and 4th in the Hammer with 17.05 mtrs. Georgie Kidd won the B competition in the Hammer with 16.59 mtrs.

PONTEFRACT OPEN MEETING - CUDWORTH - 2 JULY 2023

Sienna Lavine stepped up one age group from the U11s to the U13s in the 100 mtrs and the 800 mtrs. She won the U13 Girls 100 mtrs in a very fast 14.17 seconds to establish new Pontefract club records for U11s and U13s. In the U13 Girls 800 mtrs, she was 1st again, almost 10 seconds clear of her nearest rival. Her time of 2 minutes 30.25 seconds set new Pontefract club records for U11s and U13s. She was 2nd in the U11 Girls Long Jump with 3.68 mtrs. The meeting attracted 154 entries from clubs throughout Yorkshire and beyond and it proved to be extremely successful. Will Carter won the Senior Mens Shot Putt with a throw of exactly 10 metres and he also won the Javelin with 35.76 mtrs. Richard Howes set a club record for Men Over 60, throwing the 600g Javelin 36.35 mtrs. Richard also won the Senior Mens Long Jump with 4.38 mtrs. Madison Toddington won the U17 Ladies Shot Putt with 8.30 mtrs and Elizabeth Teece won the U17 Ladies Javelin with 19.43 mtrs. Niamh Fraser won the U15 Girls Javelin with 18.01 mtrs. Katie Kelly won the U17 Ladies 100 mtrs in 13.88 seconds and she also won the 200 mtrs in 28.42 seconds. Harrison Carter won the U17 Mens Shot Putt with 9.64 mtrs and Ryan Byrne was 1st in the U17 Mens Long Jump with 5.08 mtrs. Isabelle Gittins was 3rd in the U13 Girls Long Jump with 3.84 mtrs and Toby Johnson was 3rd in the U11 Boys 600 mtrs in 2:02.92.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MATCH 3 - 23 JUNE 2023

We finished 2nd out of the 4 clubs in Division 1 in this match. We now need to finish in the top 2 in the last match of the season on 23rd July 2023. Leading performances in this match came from:- Beatrice Cunningham won 3 events in the U17 Ladies events. She won the 300m Hurdles in 54.5 seconds, the Long Jump with 4.46 mtrs and the High Jump with 1.50 mtrs. Harrison Carter won the U17 Mens Shot Putt with 9.52 mtrs and he also won the Discus with 23.52 mtrs. Ryan Byrne won the U17 Mens Long Jump with 4.95 mtrs. Isabelle Gittins came 1st in the U13 Girls 75 mtrs in 11.9 seconds.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - 21 JUNE 2023

Sienna Lavine was again in sensational form, this time in the short 75 Metres sprint. Sienna won the U11 Girls 75 Metres, setting a new West Yorkshire League record of 10.60 seconds. The previous record of 10.7 had been set by an outstanding athlete, Alyssia Carr, and it had lasted 16 years. Sienna's time was also a Pontefract club record for U11 and U13 Girls. Harrison Carter came 2nd in the U17 Mens Shot Putt with 10.11 mtrs.

NORTHERN TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - MATCH 2 - 18 JUNE 2023

We did well to finish 4th out of the 6 clubs in this Division 1 match. Leading performances came from the following:- Carl Pointer finished 1st in the 400m Hurdles, setting a Senior Mens club record of 66.3 seconds. Bradley Wilson won the B race in 75.3 seconds despite falling twice. Will Carter came 1st in the Discus with 31.35 mtrs with Richard Howes taking 2nd place in the B competition with 23.71 mtrs. Will also came 2nd in the Shot Putt with an excellent throw of 10.41 mtrs and 3rd in the Pole Vault with 3 metres exactly. Richard came 4th in the Javelin with a very good throw of 33.62 mtrs and 2nd in the B competition in the Shot Putt with 8.02 mtrs. Luke Murphy was also in very good form. He came 2nd in the Long Jump with an impressive 6.38 mtrs, 3rd in the 100 mtrs in 12.0 seconds and 3rd in the 200 mtrs in 24.5 seconds. Zane Tam-McMillan was also in good form. He was 2nd in the 100 mtrs B race in 12.2 and 3rd in the 200 mtrs B race in 25.6 seconds. Our Mens 4 x 100 mtrs relay team of Luke Murphy, Zane Tam-McMillan, Carl Pointer and Will Carter finished a close up 4th, setting a club record of 49.7 seconds. In the Womens events, Katie Kelly finished 2nd in the 400 metres in 67.9 seconds, Elizabeth Teece came 3rd in the Javelin with 18.24 mtrs and 3rd in the Discus with exactly 17 metres. She was also 1st in the B competition in the Hammer with12.98 mtrs. Jane Williams came 3rd in the Hammer with 15.70 mtrs and 3rd in the Shot Putt with 5.37 mtrs.

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - 31st MAY 2023

Sienna Lavine produced one of the best ever performances by a Pontefract AC athlete when she won the U11 Girls 600 Metres, setting a new West Yorkshire League record of 1 minute 44.93 seconds. Her time was nearly 3 seconds quicker than the previous league record. It was also a Pontefract club record for all age groups from U11s to Senior Ladies. It was also the fastest time in the UK this year by an Under 11 Girl by more than 7 seconds. Sienna also finished 3rd in the Shot Putt with 5.23 mtrs. Katie Kelly came 2nd in the U17 Ladies 100 Mtrs in 13.80 seconds.

YORKSHIRE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS LEAGUE - MATCH 2 - 21 MAY 2023

We finished 1st out of the 4 clubs in Division 1, which placed us 3 points clear at the top of the table. Leading performances came from the following:- In the U15 Girlsm Niamh Fraser came 1st in the Javelin with 20.46 mtrs and Abi Teece came 1st in the Long Jump with 4.08 mtrs. In the U17 Ladies, Madison Toddington came 1st in the Shot Putt with 8.36 mtrs and 1st in the Javelin with 17.31 mtrs. Tom Shinkins won the U15 Boys 300 mtrs in 43.4 seconds and Harrison Carter came 1st in the U17 Mens Javelin with 21.66 mtrs.

YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 13th AND 14th MAY 2023

We won a total of 8 medals (1 more than last year) - 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

Will Carter won a gold medal in the Senior Mens Long Jump with 5.62 mtrs. He also won the gold medal in the Triple Jump with 10.76 mtrs and the silver medal in the 110m Hurdles in 21.74 seconds. Harrison Carter won the silver medal in the U17 Mens Hammer (22.14 mtrs). He also won the silver medal in the Javelin (20.81 mtrs) and bronze medals in the Discus (26.72 mtrs) and Shot Putt (10.00 mtrs) giving him a personal haul of 4 medals at the championships. Madison Toddington won a bronze medal in the U17 Ladies Javelin (15.53 mtrs).

WEST YORKSHIRE TRACK AND FIELD LEAGUE - 10th MAY 2023

Sienna Lavine came 1st in the U11 Girls 75 Mtrs in 10.89 seconds. She was also 3rd in the Long Jump with 3.17 mtrs. Abi Teece came 5th in the U15 Girls Long Jump with 4.08 mtrs. Harrison Carter was 2nd in the U17 Mens Discus with 23.50 mtrs and Will Carter was 2nd in the Senior Mens High Jump with 1.45 mtrs.

We made a good start in Match 1 in the West Yorkshire League with Sienna Lavine winning the U11 Girls 600 metres race and setting a club record of 1 minute 47.76 seconds. Sienna also finished first in the 75 metres with a personal best of 11.0 seconds. Harrison Carter also had 2 victories in the U17 Men's events. He won the Hammer with 22.67 metres and the Javelin with 20.41 metres. He was also 2nd in the Shot Putt with 9.76 metres. Archie Fraser was the winner of the U17 Men's Shot Putt with 9.85 metres. Abi Teece was 3rd in the U15 Girls 75m Hurdles in 15.4 seconds and 3rd in the High Jump with 1.30 metres. Katie Kelly came 3rd in the U17 Ladies 300 metres in 44.42 seconds.

Sienna Lavine came 1st in the U11 Girls 150 Metres, improving her club record to 21.72 seconds. She also came 1st in the U11 Girls 600 metres, setting new club records for U11 Girls and U13 Girls with a very fast 1 minute 49.62 seconds.

Will Carter scored 2812 points in the Senior Men's Heptathlon. His performances included 10.29 mtrs in the Shot Putt, 5.65 mtrs in the Long Jump and 11.56 seconds in the 60m Hurdles.

We won 7 medals at this year's championships (one more than last year), 1 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze.

Jack Holmes won the gold medal in the U17 Men's High Jump, setting a club record of 1.93 metres.

Harrison Carter won the silver medal in the U17 Men's Discus (23.19 metres), silver in the Hammer (22.48 metres) and bronze in the Shot Putt (8.66 metres).

Will Carter won the silver medal in the Senior Men's Pole Vault (3.20 metres) and silver in the 110 metres hurdles in 21.27 seconds.

Madison Toddington won the bronze medal in the U15 Girls Discus with 17.12 metres.

Eleanor Birden finished 5th in the U20 Ladies 100 metres hurdles, setting a club record of 18.52 seconds.

NORTHERN INTER COUNTIES TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 2nd JUNE 2022

3 of our athletes were selected to represent Yorkshire in the Northern Inter Counties Track and Field Championships. Jack Holmes was in tremendous form, winning the Under 17 Men's High Jump with a clearance of 1.95 metres. This set a club record for U17 Men and equalled the club record for U20 and Senior Men. Harrison Carter came 10th in the U17 Men's Shot Putt with 8.60 Metres and Archie Fraser came 11th in the U15 Boys Long Jump with 4.72 Metres.

We won 9 medals at this year's championships, 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

Katie Kelly won the gold medal in the Under 17 Ladies 800 metres in 2 minutes 35.8 seconds. She also won the silver medal in the 300 metres, setting a club record for U17, Junior and Senior Ladies with 43.4 seconds. She also won the bronze medal in the 200 metres in 28.7 seconds. Sienna Lavine won the gold medal in the U11 Girls 600 metres in 1 minute 54.0 seconds. She Also won the silver medal in the 75 metres in 11.3 seconds. Archie Fraser won the gold medal in the U15 Boys Shot Putt with 8.97 metres. He also won the silver medal in the Long Jump with 4.75 metres. Francesca Ward won the bronze medal in the U15 Girls 100 metres in 14.3 seconds. She also won the bronze medal in the 200 metres in 29.2 seconds. Julian Rutkowski finished 4th in the U11 Boys 600 metres, setting a club record of 1 minute 58.3 seconds.

MATCH 1 - CUDWORTH - 30th APRIL 2022

We finished 1st out of the 7 clubs in Division 2 East. It was our first ever team victory in the Northern League and we won the match by well over 100 points. The match result was:- 1st Pontefract 475 points, 2nd Barnsley 349, 3rd Mansfield 333, 4th Longwood 313, 5th Penistone 294, 6th Bradford Airedale 204, 7th Worksop 55.

Eleanor Birden set club records for U20 and Senior Ladies in the 400 metres hurdles with 78.8 seconds.

Beatrice Cunningham set a club record for U17 Ladies in the 400 metres hurdles with 79.9 seconds.

Evie Allen set a club record for U17 Ladies in the 100 metres hurdles with 23.0 seconds.

Kevin Waite set club records in the M60 and M55 categories in the 800 metres with 2:31.2 and in the M60 category for 400 metres with 70.5 seconds.

Christine McCarthy set club records in the F60, F55 and F50 categories at 400 metres with 87.1 seconds.

Our Ladies 4 x 400 metres relay team of Alice Dolman, Faye Lightowler, Johanna Sutcliffe and Rebecca Winter set a club record of 4 minutes 45.4 seconds.

MATCH 2 - CUDWORTH - 12th JUNE 2022

This match was successfully hosted by Pontefract AC. We had another outstanding team victory by well over 100 points. The match result was:- 1st Pontefract 470 points, 2nd Longwood 323, 3rd Barnsley 318, 4th Mansfield 306, 5th Penistone 181, 6th Bradford Airedale 176, 7th Worksop 67.

Luke Murphy won the mens Long Jump, setting a club record with 6.23 metres. Jack Holmes won the High Jump (1.90m). Will Carter won the 110m Hurdles (21.4 seconds), Pole vault (3.20m) and Triple Jump (10.75m). Richard Howes set M60 club records in the Javelin (32.36m), Hammer (18.09m), Discus (20.38m), Shot Putt (7.65m) and Triple Jump (7.77m).

In the womens events, Beatrice Cunningham won the High Jump (1.50m) and Long Jump (4.20m). Eleanor Birden won the 100m Hurdles (18.9 seconds) and Triple Jump (9.74m). Katie Kelly won the 400 metres (64.8 seconds) and Rebecca Winter won the 3000 metres (11:24.7). Jane Williams set an F45 club record in the Discus (15.78m).

MATCH 3 - CLECKHEATON - 10th JULY 2022

We recorded our third successive team victory in this match and this has assured our promotion into Division 1 next year. The match result was:- 1st Pontefract 456 points, 2nd Mansfield 437, 3rd Longwood404.8, 4th Barnsley 353, 5th Bradford Airedale 250.8, 6th Penistone 198.8, 7th Worksop 59.

Numerous club records were set at this meeting. In the womens events, Katie Kelly won the 400 metres, setting club records for U17, U20 and senior women with 63.6 seconds. Katie set club records in the same 3 age groups when finishing 2nd in the 200 metres in 27.3 seconds. Beatrice Cunningham set club records for U17s in the 400m Hurdles (78.9 seconds) and in the Triple Jump (9.79m). She also won the High Jump with 1.45m. Faye Rhodes set a club record when winning the Discus with 35.29m. She also won the Shot Putt (9.41m) and Javelin (22.26m). Johanna Sutcliffe won the 800m (2:29.5) and the 1500m (5:14.4). Eleanor Birden won the 100m Hurdles (18.7 seconds) and the Triple Jump (9.85m). Our winning 4 x 100 metres relay team of Evie Allen, Isobel Sutton, Katie Kelly and Eleanor Birden set a club record of 54.0 seconds. We also won the 4 x 400 metres relay with Beatrice Cunningham, Vicki Harris, Johanna Sutcliffe and Katie Kelly setting a club record with 4:38.8

In the mens events, Luke Murphy won the Long Jump, improving his own club record to 6.44 metres. He also equalled the club record in the 100 metres when finishing 2nd in 11.8 seconds. Richard Howes improved his own M60 club records in the Javelin with 32.89m and in the Triple Jump (9.21m). Will Carter won the Pole Vault with 3.20m.

MATCH 4 - MANSFIELD - 6th AUGUST 2022

We finished 2nd in this match, which was more than enough to end the season as East Division 2 Champions. The league positions at the end of the season were:- 1st Pontefract - 27 points, 2nd Mansfield - 22, 3rd Longwood Harriers - 20, 4th Barnsley - 19, 5th Bradford Airedale - 10,

6th Penistone - 9, 7th Worksop - 5. In this last match, Luke Murphy was in excellent form. He won the 100 metres in 12.0 seconds, the 200 metres in 24.3 seconds and the Long Jump with 6.35 metres. Jack Holmes won the High Jump with 1.70 metres. In the women's events, Eleanor Birden was in excellent form. Eleanor won the 100 metres hurdles in 18.6 seconds and the triple jump with a personal best of 9.91 metres. She was also 2nd in the 400 metres hurdles, equalling the club record with 78.8 seconds. Katie Kelly also produced some outstanding performances. Katie won the 100 metres in 13.6 seconds and she also won the 400 metres in 64.8 seconds. Faye Lightowler won the 1500 metres in 5 minutes 23.1 seconds. Christine McCarthy set a club record for women over 60 in the 3000 metres with 12 minutes 50.2 seconds and Jane Williams set a club record for women over 45 in the Javelin with 13.43 metres.

Evie Allen ran well to finish 2nd in that race in 55.4 seconds. Beatrice also won the Long Jump with 4.46 mtrs. Katie Kelly won the U17 Ladies 800m in

2 minutes 32.9 seconds. Francesca Ward won the U15 Girls 100m in 14.4 seconds and she also won the 200m in 29.1 seconds. Madison Toddington won the U15 Girls Shot Putt with 7.83 mtrs and she also won the Discus with 17.92 mtrs.

4th Keighley - 56. Beatrice Cunningham and Archie Fraser both won 3 events in this match. Beatrice won the U17 Ladies 80m Hurdles in 17.3 seconds, Long Jump with 4.36m and High Jump with 1.40m. Archie won the U15 Boys 100m in 13.1 seconds, Long Jump with 4.67m and High Jump with 1.40m. Francesca Ward won the U15 Girls 200m in 28.4 seconds and the 300m in 46.8 seconds. Abi Teece won the U15 Girls Long Jump with 3.87m and High Jump with 1.25m. Other victories came from Madison Toddington (U15 Girls Javelin - 13.21m), Harrison Carter (U17 Mens Shot Putt - 8.90m), Rudy Burgoyne (U13 Boys 80m - 12.7 seconds) and Trudie Robson (U15 Girls 1500m - 5 minutes 46.0 seconds).

She also won the 200m in 27.6 seconds. Madison Toddington won the U15 Girls Shot Putt with 8.91m and she also won the Discus with 18.69m. Abi Teece had 2 victories in the U15 Girls age group - 75m Hurdles in 15.4 seconds and High Jump with 1.30m. Harrison Carter also won 2 events in the U17 Mens age group - Shot Putt with 9.58m and Discus with 21.23m. Emily Kelly won the U15 Girls Long Jump with 3.62m.

We finished 2nd in Match 4. The result was:- 1st Barton - 409, 2nd Pontefract - 250, 3rd Halifax - 246. Keighley did not attend. This resulted in the final league positions being:- 1st Barton - 13 points,

In Match 4, Katie Kelly and Francesca Ward both won 3 events. Katie won the U17 Ladies 100m in 13.6 seconds, 200m in 27.6 seconds and 300m in 45.3 seconds. Francesca won the U15 Girls 100m in 13.6 seconds, 200m in 27.9 seconds and 300m in 47.4 seconds. Abi Teece won the U15 Girls 75m Hurdles in 15.0 seconds and she also won the High Jump with 1.30m. Madison Toddington won the U15 Girls Shot Putt with 8.87m and she also won the Javelin with 14.53m. Archie Fraser also had 2 victories in the U15 Boys Shot Putt (9.33m) and Long Jump (4.81m). In her first ever Track and Field competition, Sienna Lavine won the U11 Girls 600 metres in 1:58.25. She also won the 75 metres in 11.54 seconds.

Sienna Lavine was first again in the U11 Girls 75 metres in 11.48 seconds and Francesca Ward won the U15 Girls 200 metres in 29 seconds exactly.

Sienna Lavine continued her outstanding form, winning the U11 Girls 600 metres in a very fast 1:54.98. Madison Toddington won the U15 Girls Discus with 17.41 metres and Archie Fraser won the U15 Boys Shot Putt with a PB of 9.63 metres.

MEETING 4 - CLECKHEATON - 22nd JUNE 2022

Sienna Lavine continued her amazing success, winning the U11 Girls 75 metres in a very fast 11.19 seconds. Francesca Ward improved her PB when winning the U15 Girls 200 metres in 28.16 seconds and katie Kelly had an impressive run to win the U17 Ladies 300 metres in 44.51 seconds. Archie Fraser won the U15 Boys Long Jump with 4.86 metres and Julian Rutkowski set an U11 Boys club record when finishing 2nd in the 600 metres in 1:59.07.

After missing the previous meeting due to testing positive for covid, Sienna Lavine returned to action with a fantastic winning performance in the U11 Girls 600 metres, in which she set a club record of 1:51.43. She also won the 75 metres in 11.42 seconds.

Sienna Lavine continued her outstanding form, winning the U11 Girls 600 metres in 1:54.06 and in her first race at 80 metres, she was also 1st in 12.06 seconds. Madison Toddington won the U15 Girls Shot Putt with 8.36 metres and Archie Fraser won nthe U15 Boys Long Jump with 4.86 metres. In the U17 Ladies age group, Beatrice Cunningham won the 300 metres hurdles in 58.21 seconds and she also won the Long Jump with 4.56 metres. Katie Kelly won the 200 metres in 28.14 seconds. Eleanor Birden won the U20 Ladies Long Jump with 4.61 metres and Julian Rutkowski improved his U11 Boys 600 metres club record when finishing 2nd in 1:56.67.

BRASS MONKEY HALF MARATHON, YORK - 16th JANUARY 2022

Nathan Doy finished 41st in a high quality race, setting a club record for Senior Men with 73 minutes 37 seconds.

DEWSBURY 10K - 6th FEBRUARY 2022

Nathan Doy was again our top finisher. He was 34th out of 2026 in 33 minutes 35 seconds. Scott Daly set a club record for Men Over 50 with 38-06 and Johanna Sutcliffe set F45 and F40 club records with

38-20. Christine McCarthy clocked 43-59 to finish as the 2nd F60.

WOKINGHAM HALF MARATHON - MARCH 2022

This was the trial race for selection for the England team in the veterans international against the Celtic nations at Chester in May. Christine McCarthy had an outstanding run, finishing in 93-19 and has been selected for the England team in the F60 age group. Congratulations to Christine on her selection. Faye Lightowler had a good run to finish in 84-40, but just missed out on selection for England.

THIRSK 10 MILES - 13th MARCH 2022

Some more outstanding performances here with Scott Daly setting an M50 club record with 62-30. Alan Boyd was also in outstanding form. He clocked 71-06 to set club records in the M60 and M55 age groups. Christine McCarthy was the 1st F60 finisher in 72-57.

WAKEFIELD 10K - 20th MARCH 2022

Vicki Harris was the 1st F35 finisher in 43-56 and Christine McCarthy was the 1st F60 home in 44-16.

MANCHESTER MARATHON - 2nd APRIL 2022

Some really top performances by our athletes here. Faye Lightowler finished in 2 hours 57 minutes 46 seconds and Johanna Sutcliffe went sub 3 hours for the first time, setting an F45 club record with

2-58-14. Christine McCarthy produced another world class performance with 3-20-49. Molly Cawthorn, who joined as a member a few days later, clocked an outstanding 2-57-04.

CHESTER HALF MARATHON - 15th MAY 2022

Christine McCarthy represented England in the veterans international half marathon, which was incorporated within the race. Christine came 2nd in the F60 age group in 1-38-03.

DONCASTER HALF MARATHON - 12th JUNE 2022

Scott Daly was back in form, setting another M50 club record with 1-25-18.

DARRINGTON 5 MILES - 25th JUNE 2022

We had club records galore in this popular local race. Nathan Doy set a senior mens club record with

28 minutes 37 seconds. Scott Daly improved the M50 club record to 31-01. Johanna Sutcliffe enhanced the club records in the F45 and F40 age groups with 32-18 and Alan Boyd also got in on the act with an M60 club record with 34-17.

PONTEFRACT PARK RUN - 25th JUNE 2022

Sienna Lavine, aged only 9, clocked an amazing 21-42 to set an age group All Time best performance in the Pontefract Park Run for runners aged 10 and under. Incredibly, she will still be in this age group for more than one more year.

CHESTER MARATHON - 2nd OCTOBER 2022

Christine McCarthy was selected to represent England in the veterans international marathon, which was incorporated within this race. Christine had a fantastic run, finishing 1st in the womens over 60 age group in the international race in 3 hours 19 minutes 35 seconds.

20th July 2021

Congratulations to Jack Holmes, who won the silver medal in the Junior Boys (Under 15) High Jump at the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Manchester on 11th July 2021. Jack is the first athlete from Pontefract Athletics Club to win a medal at the English Schools Championships.

15th August 2021

Jack won the gold medal in the Under 15 Boys High Jump at the Northern Athletics Track and Field Championships at Hull with a clearance of 1.78 metres.

22nd August 2021

Jack won the gold medal in the Under 15 Boys High Jump at the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships at York, setting a championship best performance with a massive clearance of 1.91 metres. This performance placed him at the top of the UK Rankings in the Under 15 Boys High Jump.

Faye Calvert won the gold medal in the Senior Ladies Discus with 33.13 metres and Faye also won the bronze medal in the Hammer with 41.16 metres. Niamh Atkinson won the silver medal in the Under 17 Ladies Hammer with 28.11 metres and Harrison Carter won the silver medal in the Under 15 Boys Hammer with 24.87 metres. Eleanor Birden won the bronze medal in the Under 20 Ladies 100 metres Hurdles in 19.64 seconds. The club, therefore, won 6 medals at the Yorkshire Championships (2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze).

11th and 12th September 2021

3 of our athletes were selected to represent England in the veterans road running international against the Celtic nations at Richmond Park, London. Christine McCarthy finished 1st in the women's Over 60 Half Marathon in 93 minutes 51 seconds. Rebecca Winter finished 3rd in the Women's Over 35 10K in 36 minutes 56 seconds and Faye Lightowler came 4th in the women's Over 40 Half Marathon in 81 minutes 46 seconds. Congratulations to all 3 of them.

Also on 12th September 2021, Jack Holmes won the Under 15 Boys High Jump in the last meeting of the season in the West Yorkshire Track and Field League, setting a league record of 1.80 metres. Will Carter ended the season as the overall winner of the senior mens division.
