What we do
In the summer months (1st April to 30th September) we train outdoors at the Kings School on Mondays and Fridays from 7.00 to 8.00 pm (1 hour earlier in September).
We also train on Wednesdays from 7.00 to 8.00 pm at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium. We have lots of athletics equipment at the Kings School, which is kept in our own storage container there.
Our club also paid for the provision of a Long Jump runway with a polymeric surface at the Kings School and also for an extension of the Long Jump pit from 6 metres to 8 metres.
The club has qualified athletics coaches and we are able to coach all events including sprints, hurdles, endurance events including steeplechase, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Putt, Discus, Javelin and Hammer.
In the winter months (1st October to 31st March) we train indoors at the Kings School (6.00 to 7.00 pm for Under 11s and 7.00 to 8.00 pm for Under 13s and above).
Please note that different arrangements are being planned for the winter of 2020/2021 because of Covid-19.
Our junior athletes also do road running on Thursday nights in the winter, starting at 7.00 pm from Pontefract Rugby Union Club.
All of our athletes are expected to take part in the competitions, which we are involved in.
We compete in the West Yorkshire Track and Field League and also the York Summer League, both of which cater for all age groups from Under 11s to seniors.
We compete in the Yorkshire and District Athletics League, which caters for U13s, U15s and U17s.
